| Stealing members Dear Mr. Kut. This HOMO had the NERVE to come to my fed and contact my members and ask them to join his fed. HOW DARE HE?! I wish he was DEAD! Please add him to the BLACKLIST ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!@!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11 Over the years, I cannot tell you how many times I get this exact same email or AIM message. I know, I know, you feel like you've been violated and you feel so helpless like a jogger in Central Park. You can't find any way to get back at this jackass so you turn to RoughKut.com for help in getting some quick and vicious revenge! Well, sorry to burst your bubble, Skippy. But not only will I NOT add that "Homo" to the Blacklist but I will probably crush your broken heart even more when I say I don't even think it's wrong to "Steal Members". Gee! Has RoughKut turned heel? Has he lost his mind? Does he steal members? I know these questions just popped in your head. No, maybe, and never in my life would answer your questions. Let's face the facts. Contacting members in an active efed is not the most moral thing one could do. It's a pretty shitty thing to do in fact. But get over it. It is a VALID method of getting members. First let's go over the definition of "steal". Steal ( P ) Pronunciation Key (stl) v. stole, (stl) sto·len, (stln) steal·ing, steals v.
tr. Now, in your efed are the members your property? Do you own them? Last time I checked Lincoln abolished slavery so where does this "theft" occur exactly? What about the second part. Per-mis-sion. Say it with me. Without PERMISSION. Does this "Homo" that contacted your members have a gun? Does he have a whip and ball and chain and drag your members off kicking a screaming? No, if he "stole" your members then that means one of three things:
So, I ask you. What does it say about YOU if someone "steals" your members? Maybe that's the problem you should be dealing with. Your fed's quality. If some person can come to your fed and "steal" members then it's not their fault. The fault is all yours. That doesn't mean you are helpless, there is plenty you can do to combat these "thieves". 1. Run a GOOD efed and make sure your members are having fun. You see, your members won't want to go anywhere if they are having fun and you are doing a good job. 2. Use your forums functions and BAN them. Then DELETE their posts and accounts. Do this instead of ranting a raving like a cheerleader full of GHB, and then running to sites like RoughKut.com trying to get revenge. Why don't you just stop them from posting at your website? Most, if not ALL forums have this feature. If you run a normal efed then it's very easy to keep up with who joins your forums. 3. STOP making your member's email addresses and contact info publicly available! What's wrong with you? The two efeds on the net that don't use forums or the feds that have a staff/roster page why on Earth do you have your member's email addresses in clear view and expect them not to be contacted? That's TOTALLY your fault. 4. Make it clear to your members that you only want people on your roster that are in your efed and your efed alone. I don't see what you're whining about in the first place. It's common for people to be in up to 3 efeds at one time, especially newbies. So who cares if someone asks them to join another one? They can say no. |
