Why us:Longevity and Consistency
CPW has been open since early 2003, and it’s been going – with no break – since. As a fed, we’ve dealt with both the highs and lows that every fed seems to deal with. We’ve had weeks and months where we were lucky to reach 10 RPs, and we’ve had periods of time where, after having other feds merge with ours, we were forced to create a second show in order to even have a chance of fitting everyone on the card.
What this means, though, is that we aren’t just going to shut down on an impulse. We’ve had moments where the end seemed inevitable, and moments where the staff was completely overwhelmed. The fed has survived both instances. Over the past 8 years, we’ve developed a solid core of members that have stuck with us through the good and the bad. Now, don’t take that to mean that the fed’s cliquey. If anything, history has proven that the opposite is true, as the core members of the fed has constantly evolved throughout the 8+ years that it’s been open. Some of us have been around for almost the entire 8 years that’s the fed has been open (such as myself), whereas others have only joined as recently as within the past two years. Nonetheless, everyone who has wanted to be welcomed has been, and with open arms at that. As a fed, we have no intention of going anywhere (as the 8 years we’ve been open hopefully proves), and we’re more than willing to accept anyone who would like to come along for the ride.Roleplaying Freedom
I’m sure there are quite a few of you that saw that we have no RP limit, and automatically wondered what the hell we could possibly be thinking. So, allow me to clarify a few things – in regards to why it isn’t half as big a deal as it may seem, and why we tend to see it as a good thing.
Though we allow people the opportunity to roleplay as many times as they’d like to, people generally tend to stick within a 1-3 RP range for the vast majority of matches. People are also more than welcome to decide on their own RP Limit with their opponent, and – if they so choose – mention said limit to a staff member to make it official. By not having an RP limit, we aren’t encouraging that people put up as many RPs as they possibly can in order to win. It’s not guaranteed to work, anyway.
The reason that we don’t have an RP limit is because we want to encourage freedom with RPing. Some people prefer to write character development stuff, while others would rather focus on cutting promos on their opponents, and keeping things entirely match relevant. And then you have people who try to get the best of both worlds, and combine the two. There’s nothing wrong with any of these options. You tend to put up your best work when you’re enjoying what you’re writing.
It’s because of things like that we have no RPing limits. You have a story that you want to tell to develop your character, and don’t know how to fit in a match relevant promo during it? Then focus on that. Did your opponent give you something that you feel the need to respond to, but you had a bit of character development that you wanted to get up to help sell a feud? Go ahead and write both. We want people to have fun, and to be able to express themselves creatively without feeling restricted. It’s worked for us for 8 years now. And even though people will occasionally have very active weeks, it doesn’t get out of hand anywhere near as often as many would assume.Be Involved
We want people to be involved. What I mean by that is…we’re going to try to get you on as many cards as we possibly could. Will it always happen? I can’t make promises (especially since I’m not the booker). But we will try to keep you involved. If you’ve been consistent, and we feel that you’ve been doing a great job, we’ll try to get you a title match. If we think that you’d be a great feud for somebody, then we’ll try to set something up. Likewise, if YOU want to feud somebody, and you worked it out with them? Let us know. 95% of the time, we’ll go forward with it, and give you our ideas on how you can improve it along the way. If YOU want to go forward with a particular type of angle, and you’re wondering if there’s anyone else that would well as a feuding opponent, or a partner for it? We’ll try to help you with that. Hell, if you practically want to write your own feud with someone, we’ll probably let you as long as things don’t interfere with anything else, and nothing ends up going over the top. Need help? Feel free to ask, and you’ll receive.
We want people to feel like they’re a part of the fed. We’ve had members who have been with us for years say that we’re almost like a second family to them, and we want to do what we can to make that the case – and not do anything to make you feel like an outsider. One way that we do that is by giving you creative freedom, even when it comes to your feuds and opponents. That isn’t to say that we’ll allow EVERYTHING – there are other people in the fed, and other things that must be acknowledged – but we will do what we can to make sure you’re happy. So, in conclusion:
I’m not going to pretend that we’re perfect. We aren’t. We’ve had our ups and downs where activity is concerned, and right now, we aren’t at the most active that we’ve ever been – though, I will say that activity has definitely started to pick up in recent weeks. And even though when it does happen, it’s because something unforeseen came up with one of our writers, there have been times when we’ve failed to get shows up as early as we’d have liked to. But even with these flaws, I still feel that we have a strong core of roleplayers who are extremely talented, a group of people who work very hard on writing out the results on a weekly basis, coming up with ideas to keep things interesting, and trying to make CPW as welcoming a home as humanly possible.
I’ve been there for almost 8 years, and I haven’t regretted a minute of it. I wouldn’t have written this much about the place if I didn’t mean that. So for anyone who read all of this, hopefully, you’ll give us both a look, and a chance. Maybe we’ll be exactly what you’re looking for. And if not, then I thank you for even taking the time to read all of this, and if you need to contact me with any further questions, my email is Prankster928@gmail.com
, and my AIM is XiPrankster928iX. If you’d like to talk to the man who generally tends to be seen as the fed-head, he can be reached on AIM at chaosnmayhem632.
Thanks for reading, everyone.
