What the hell is eWrestling?

eWrestling:	A multi-player game which is an online simulation of pro-wrestling in it's entirety, from the booking and promotion to the actual wrestling contests. Normally played by a group of individuals on a website or webspace. Each individual person plays a particular role in the game, which is organized by a "fed-head" or federation head who serves as the promoter. Most commonly, the game is played in a contest of writing skill, which simulates the "promos" of pro-wrestling. However, the game has expanded in various other directions as well. Commonly referred to as "The Game". Some call it Fantasy Wrestling, however it's much different.
Fantasy Wrestling:	Much like Fantasy Football- You as an individual own or commission a fantasy league or team of wrestlers and manage them with the assistance of real life Pro Wrestling Events (RAW, Smackdown) and use different point systems to advance in ranks or positions. This should not be confused with ewrestling because they are two entirely different entities. This website does not deal with fantasy wrestling for the most part.
eFed:	Electronic Federation, where most eWrestling events, stats, history, etc is kept. Where a group of individuals meet to play the game. An efed serves as a homebase for your game and is treated as a fantasy wrestling promotion.
eWrestler:	Electronic Wrestler, duh. An ewrestler's main role in an efed is to participate in scheduled "events" which are contests booked by the fed-head. Many handlers of ewrestlers tend to give their character a life of it's own and give them a background, history and develop their character's life in their roleplays/promos.
Role-Play:	The traditional method of playing and winning the game is done through role-playing. Historically, roleplays used to be called "flashes", which apparently comes from the official writing term, "Flash Fiction" which is a short-story meant to be read in a single sitting. Roleplays are judged based on unlimited criteria.

Ok, so what do I do?

If you like the idea of trying this game, you're at one of the best places to get started. There's a large number of efeds for you to lurk and learn about and the forums is the best place to learn about the participants. I wouldn't suggest diving in head first. I suggest becoming a part of the communities around the net and learning about the common bond, first.

Why ask why? If you like the idea, do it. If not, don't. There are thousands of people online in eWrestling; you would just be one of them. It's a game, a way to pass the time. Or waste time. Why play any game? Just do it or don't, no one cares. I'm just here to teach you about it.

It may be considered a nerdy habit to some and it's become sort of a fad to poke fun at ourselves for playing this game, but trust me- YOU have a nerdy habit somewhere. So don't be so quick to judge. Just about everyone has a habit that others don't understand. It's a fun game at times that has developed the writing skills of thousands upon thousands of young men and women who happen to be fans of pro-wrestling.

Although some take this game very seriously, it is at it's heart just a game- not a lifestyle. There's no "trekkie" type conventions where people dress up as pretend wrestlers. There's nothing weird about it, besides the weird individuals who participate in the game. I consider it a huge online board game based on a theme of pro-wrestling. Most of the time, long term friendships are formed, and emotions fly- but I wouldn't say ewrestling is any kind of "social group" to be labeled as such. It's just a game.
