Poser has become not only an important part of eWrestling but it has become one of the most sought after commodities in the entire eWrestling community. "Why?" You ask? Because poser 4 does something that imagination alone cannot do. It does something that is VERY difficult for a pen and paper to do. It creates 3 dimensional customized images of people! Male, female everything from dogs to robots can be found in the Poser 4 program. Poser 4 is the most recent version of the program as of 2001.
Of course poser is not made for eWrestling. It's a 3d art program for humans and some animals.
But it can be used to create a prefect image of your wrestler. Things that role-playing alone can never do. It just adds an extra flair of realism to your favorite pastime. This is not a poser wrestler tutorial, I found one at the eW Center and found out how to do everything else on my own. What I will do is give you some tips so that when you get poser 4- you can make your imagination come to life. I am particularly proud of the two images you see in this top section of this page. They look real, cool and I got the most out of poser that I could at the time of their creation. Making these was not easy, poser is not easy. I had to make sure everything was perfect. Do you see how the belt is drooping over the shoulder of the image on the right? That took time and some creative manipulation. The program doesn't come with a belt or sunglasses. I had to use an actual JPG of a real pro wrestling belt and cut it in a way that it appears to lay over the arm. The second picture shows a younger wrestler with spiked hair and boxers pulled all the way up. This was in no way easy. I had to use a blur paint brush and carefully spike the hair and I had to draw the boxers. The easy part is the background. But you still have to be very creative in choosing one. I use realistic scenes as my background. Others do not. It appears the right image is in a wrestling ring at an arena. Here's some tips:

• Realism: The most important part is to make your wrestler as realistic as you can. One problem you may find in poser is; everything you create ends up having the same "poser style". My goal is always to make my wrestlers look as original as possible. So sometimes you have to reply on other places to customize your wrestler even more such as: Renderosity.com! You must join but it's free an worth it. You can select from many different objects such as [Eyebrows, eyes, hair, beards, clothes and if you're clever enough- you can find a wrestling ring that is fully customizable!] It's up to you to learn how to actually use them. I'm still learning myself. There's usually instructions in the readme files, sometimes there is none.
• Getting the program: Tricky tricky! I got mine for $15.00 at an online auction. That is long over with. There are sites where you can get the free version and find a "hack or crack" to release the full version but I don't assist anyone in breaking the law, that's what your search sites are for. :-) You could do the honorable thing and buy the program but it costs almost $300 dollars so it's your piggy bank.
• Learning the program: Takes weeks of getting used to unless your hat size is 10'. I had to learn it myself and so will you. Everything is there and there are plenty of Poser tutorial sites www.poserworld.com, www.poserforum.com, greylight.com just to name a few. I wont waste my time creating another one to add to the thousands. The only thing I haven't found is a site dedicated to making a poser wrestler. Besides eW center.com which is closed now.
• Making it a wrestler tips: Ok, ok.. I'll give away a few of my secrets. First there are sites with arena backgrounds used solely for graphic images. I don't remember the name of any good ones, sorry. But do a search, you'll get lucky. Look for arena backgrounds or arena pics or something. Nothing is easy believe me. When you save your poser figure and render it it asks for the option of using a background image so there ya go. Sometimes you may want your own style of hair. This is easy! I use a graphic program called Micrografx Picture publisher.. I select the "paint brush tool" and go into the paint brush styles and select distort or "blur". A couple of brush strokes later you have some spiked hair!
