Thanks to my forum members, for another blog topic. http://roughkut.com/kamp_v3/index.php?topic=17076.0

I used to have a pretty apathetic stance on this one to be honest. I mean who cares? But where would the limits be placed? If you re-use an old roleplay then what stops you from just using the same RP over and over again, endlessly?

Not that I didn’t always think this was the epitome of laziness. I mean let’s face it, this is the equivalent of submitting a college paper to each new teacher. Not that it wouldn’t be tempting, but it kind of defeats the purpose of the assignment.

So is there any situation that allows this recycling?

Well, I suppose if you know for a fact, that your opponent won’t be showing up and you have the permission of the fed-head maybe.

Or if you just want to do an introduction and it doesn’t count towards a match.

T-Bone brought up a good point, if your work is that generic and interchangeable, then it’s likely you don’t deserve to win in the first place.

Here’s a scenario:

Hey, jobroni! Tonight, I’m going to lay the smackdown on your candy buttock! Oh yeah, we’re going to smackdown hotel and I’m going to shine up something real nice and insert it into your rectum sideways!

This type of thing can be re-used over and over as we learned from.. ‘Dwayne Johnson‘. It can be catchy, it can even get you over, but it doesn’t address specific situations. Point being, just because something is good doesn’t mean you should get credit for it more than the first time you created it.

This is where things get complicated.

An artist can get paid for re-creating the same piece repeatedly. But that artist isn’t in a competition… usually. A poet can win many writing competitions with the exact same poem. Unless the rules state otherwise.

This is where the fed-head comes in. Make your god-damned rules CLEAR! This wouldn’t even be a debate if the fed-heads showed a little more responsibility. Make your intentions crystal clear and you won’t have to spend a second debating people’s opinions, losing valuable time and causing much grief.

If you are a fed-head and your rules are: “HAVE FUN!” That’s what people are going to do. Their version of fun.

When someone signs up for your fed, they are agreeing to abide by your standards of play. It’s that simple. If you don’t address something then that means for some folks that it’s ok.

I know it’s not possible to think of EVERYTHING. But if you don’t have a rule saying “Don’t contact my members” then I can’t say that a fed-whore did anything wrong when you come crying to me for justice. Gotta be pro-active and make sure that the things you don’t want are displayed.

Just because YOU hate having your members contacted, doesn’t mean everyone else hates it. Get my point? Some fed-heads are secure and don’t mind their roster multi-tasking.

Same with recycled RPs, it might be an unwritten rule in a lot of people’s minds that this is a BIG no-no. But not everyone thinks the same way. For some fed-heads, role-pay quality may not be as important as him watching people participate and having fun. Maybe it’s arguable that this isn’t a good fed-head, but everyone doesn’t think like you or me.

Bottom line:

Re-using old RPs is just plain lazy. It shows that you have little interest in this hobby and you’re just going with the motions. You’ll likely quit soon and you have no desire to further your career. I mean, where is the competitive spirit if you just say “Hey, I got one that can squash this dude!”

I mean, most people that recycle don’t even bother to change the names they used when they first wrote it. This hobby is based on angles, storylines and ever changing situations. Your RPs should always change with the situation. What if a wrestler, came out and delivered the EXACT same promo he did a few weeks ago? You’d be bitching and complaining and calling foul, wouldn’t you?

I think this should be avoided if you take your fedding at all seriously.

That’s all for now.
