Realism in ewrestling.
I gave this some thought after my long time member, LJB started this topic on the forums.
http://roughkut.com/kamp_v3/index.php?topic=16915.0
And I now realize that the very topic is an oxymoron in itself. RK has made it very clear throughout it’s existence that it’s open about ewrestling being, well, ridiculous when you really think about it. We pretend to be fake wrestle
rs on the internet. We make fun of the guys that are at least pretending to be real wrestlers. This entire game is a paradox.
That being said, there should be some semblance of “realism” but only to a loosely drawn line. Personally, I would have a hard time competing in a wrestling arena with a flying demon, sent from hell to participate in wrestling events and save the world in it’s part time. To me, that’s not really “ewrestling”, that should go in the category of fantasy roleplaying.
However, your fed should define those limits and define them clearly. If your fed has wrestling animals, that are “furries” then so be it, but let’s make it clear that you allow these fantasy creatures and don’t have a roster of serious competitors and some random ManBearPig.
There’s a fed that’s been a part of the RK affiliates for years called “Creature Wrestling”, that happens to be a good example of what to do. He allows “creatures” but that’s the whole theme of his world. He doesn’t have an indy fed that just so happens to have Spider-man on the roster. (Sadly, RKW is guilty of this believe it or not).
It’s been brought up and I have personally witnessed in ewrestling, characters that are also mass murderers in their spare time. This is totally believable only if they haven’t been caught. It’s plausible that someone involved in pro-wrestling could be a murderer, can we say Benoit?
Yeah. But the lines for me are crossed when everyone on the roster knows this guy they get in the ring with is a serial killer.
Bottom line, it’s not really mine or anyone else’s place to dictate how you have your fun. If you are into having rapists and Nambla card holders on your roster, and you can find other people willing to participate then hey, go for it. Believe it or not I’ve come across efeds like this more than once. One of them seemed to take pride in having rapists on board. They also had images of flying whales with giant penises and unicorns and other far out shit like that. I wish I could remember what that place was called.
Another fed, from long ago in my fuzzy memory had an RP that I’ll never forget. It was some wrestler raping a 5 year old, then the finale’ of the flash was the world randomly exploding.
Point being, there were other people on the roster that put up with this. Quite honestly, movies deal with extremes like this regularly. This is how those guys wanted to spend their time. So long as they aren’t really out raping toddlers, I guess I can’t judge? I don’t endorse this type of strange, strange fantasy behavior and most of the time I don’t really think it’s technically “ewrestling”. But if I say that, then I have to hold ownership of ewrestling and I don’t.
I guess if there was a point to this, it would be: Have fun how ever you want.
++I guess I should add to this.
Somewhere deep, I believe if you are pretending or “fantasizing” about being a murderer, pedophile or what-not, I wonder if this is some sort of repression release for you. Is ewrestling just an outlet for your twisted inner thoughts?
Fortunately, nothing has ever come up as far as dealing with someone posting demented roleplays on the internet and being involved in real-world criminal activity. Other than urinating in parked cars of course.
I just have a hard time believing that someone that can write about sex with minors or murder doesn’t atleast entertain the thought now and then.
We don’t even have to go that far, that’s extreme. How about those of you that roleplay as the head of the KKK? Maybe you’re giving us a little insight into the inner workings of your true mind?
Or those that pretend to be female characters like I talked about in the last blog… hmm.
Just a little food for thought.

Yeah, i agree to an extent. I handle alot of characters but none of them can fly or disappear at will. With that said, My main charater used to be an assassin and i have rped killing someone but in none of my rps do i kill other palyers characters or am a seriel killer.
Now, if a serial killer character was in a efed i was in, id be ok with it, as long as the killing was “off camera”

I have been in an efed where, believe it or not, we they had oompa loompas, rabbids from some video game and demons. They have a zombie and a vampire. A BREAD ZOMBIE I might add. And they wonder why they have no one coming in. They wondered why they have at the most 8 handlers and 72 on the roster.
It just isn’t fun. I don’t know what happened to just go old fashioned efedding.

I don’t mind vamps as long as they don’t fly or turn into bat. I’ve seen a vampire character and i think it can work as long has the essence of the character is not sucking peoples blood.

Is guilty of vampire characters and i’d rather them actually, I love fantasy writing but i don’t go over board with it, no mass murders etc. They don’t turn into bats. Mind you i write vampires well, lol. I also don’t agree with the whole murder thing , i think it’s wrong. I read a rp once where they raped a kid….yeah i somehow got that guy banned from the site.

Hey Echo! Where you been?
Thanks everyone. There’s been a ton of vampires in pro-wrestling, I can think of 3-4 really popular gimmicks with a vampire.
But fantasy in pro-wrestling goes hand in hand. Look at the Undertaker. At times he’ll shoot a fireball across the ring and make lightening bolts hit the ring.
So I’d say there’s a strong place for this type of thing in ewrestling.
However, once that character goes home to a coffin after a long night of flapping their bat wings to a slew of bloody victims, then I’d say the line was crossed.
There’s nothing wrong with fantasy, but let’s not go over the top with it. If you want to be in a fed with “real” monsters, let’s make it Creature wrestling or something. Not Jersey Wrestling Federation.

As long as the realm you create allows certain things, then it works in your fed.
If your fed is a fed of serial killers, then you have to make serial killers accepted in the \world\ of your fed. You can’t have it run in the \real\ world here, and allow serial killers to do things in RPs.
However, if you do so, you’ll be a niche fed forever. You may get some dedicated people, but you’ll have the same small group for a long time.
I think that if you have some fun with it, and make it a characiture of the \real\ world, that you can push some boundries around and it’ll work out just fine.

“Yeah. But the lines for me are crossed when everyone on the roster knows this guy they get in the ring with is a serial killer.”
That made me laugh so hard.
Yeah, I think you can be fictional to a point but when you have “real” vampires and werewolves having sex orgies in RPs then you know… You have a problem.

He was basically bram strokers dracula. He would enter with swarms of bats, have glowing red eyes during promos. Fly…the whole shebang. Gangrel, he was not.
He thought he was a vampire…and he also plays a zombie. Soooo….while I go along with what you guys say…that takes it a bit to far.

i kind of disagree on the last part of this blog. We read books and watch movies all the time about serial killers, does that mean the authors and writers have the inner desire to be a serial killer?
