Is the feeling still there?

As an aging adult trapped in this prepubescent based hobby, I must say the feeling is gone. I may be fairly out of touch with the newer generation of fedders, but I believe I offer a rare position of experience from dealing with hundreds, even tens of thousands of fed-heads and ewrestlers over the years.

For instance, if you watch birds for hours, every day, for a decade, odds are you know a few things about birds that most people may not. …Even other birds. So my little chickadees, I have now justified my penchant for berating you with opinions and feel emboldened to give you thoughts from a position of authority. lol

I may be well removed from playing our little game, but I am still very much a part of it. Now that’s I’ve gotten the self-fellating disclaimer out of the way, let’s get to the point of this piece. I admit, I don’t really have one. Just random thoughts and the awareness that I’ve neglected the ewrestlers when I blog.

There can be obtained a high, a mental high when playing this game. But overindulgence can give you an opposite effect as well, just like pretty much anything in the world. Moderation is the key, says the alcohol advertisment.

Like I said, there’s a high and a low. The high, I like to call a “Fed Boner“.

It’s sort of the same experience you get when you see something amazing in pro-wrestling. We of course, call this a “mark out moment”.

There’s a primitive section of our brains that smart-asses in white jackets like to call an “R-complex“. Not to get all technical and boring, but it’s basically a reptilian brain. It supposedly controls all of our basic urges, fighting, fornication, food and all the other wonderful things that begin with the letter f. Oddly enough, fedding begins with f as well.

It can be put in the same category as seeing a hot car, a hot bitch, a hot meal and you get the idea. Things that turn us on. The high can be amazing, and it can last a long time but over time you start seeing the same things over and over and that high becomes stale and you pretty much lose all interest.

That ol’ r-complex is a funny thing. It drives you on pure emotion as I’ve said in a recent article. Once you get what you want, it almost instantly and completely dies, turning you into a flake. If not a flake, you’re one of those high moral loyalists, that continues to help aimlessly but inside, you’re empty and tired.

The opposite of a fed-boner is what we’ve always called “burn out”. It’s the moment you hit that plateau in ewrestling and you just have to get out, no matter what’s going on.

How do you keep that boner going?

Well, I don’t have a magical e-viagra for those with federation erectile dysfunction. But going by what we’ve learned, I’d say the best answer is keep things fresh. If your fed-head starts to get stale, it might be time to move on to a new fed. New stimuli is what your mind needs to maintain that strange sensation we call “fun”.

Moving on might be hard, because our mind not only requires new stimulation, but it also requires stability and security. Moving on is a very unstable and insecure feeling. Change is scary and hard to deal with. Humans also have a nasty habit of building a dependence on others. Call it “pack mentality”, which is yet another portion of the complex human mind. You almost involuntarily get a sense of loyalty to your pack leader. You feel you owe something to your pack members, you must contribute.

Nothing is black and white here, but do keep in mind that this is a GAME.You don’t really owe anyone anything, you are playing a game. I’m not saying this gives you the right to vanish while booked for card. You should ALWAYS keep your commitment, or at the very least be honest about not feeling that urge anymore.

Evaluate why you are playing this game. Are you looking for that high when you got your first taste? Or do you really still feel compelled to do this? What are you looking for? Companionship or comradery?

When I look over the ewrestling world, I see a lot of people that seem to be forcing themselves to remain a part of this game. Much like a seasoned drug addict, looking for that initial high. Sort of zombie-like behavior.

I’m sure many people will cringe upon reading these words, because they are counter-productive to getting ewrestling back to past “glory day” levels. But, I argue that it’s counter-productive to have a legion of zombies joining feds, looking for tasty brains, only to find that brains don’t taste so good anymore and flaking out.

Am I really telling hundreds of people to quit ewrestling? I wouldn’t exactly word it like that, but basically yes.

I’ve tried and tried over the years to write articles on how to get back in the game, how to get that feeling again and so on. I am finding it more and more cumbersome and tedious to come up with ways to do this.

Is all hope gone?

Of course not. Giving it up doesn’t mean you have to stay gone forever. My point is, don’t force yourself to keep trying.

That nasty little boner you get when you feel euphoric upon viewing a new shiny federation is usually temporary, and once you have a couple of matches, or less, you’ll want to roll over and smoke a ciggy and you’re done.

You should by all means follow your heart at the bottom line. If your little inner voice tells you to RP, then be my guest.

The problem is, that little voice is telling people to open new feds. By the hundreds.

Mind you, I can understand the desire to see if you can do it. It’s like a badge of honor to open a fed and watch it become successful. However, keep in mind the burnout can and does effect fed-heads as well. Fed-heads get the fed-boner too, once they have a few cards, it’s lake flaccid.

It’s now no big secret why this website keeps changing directions like a map-quest road trip.

Stay thirsty my friends.
